This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you use the "Accessible Side Buttons" application (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Permissions & Data Usage

The Service utilizes the Android Accessibility API to create persistent, floating on-screen buttons intended to assist users with motor impairments or those seeking to protect hardware buttons from wear. To function correctly, the Service requires specific permissions. We DO NOT use these permissions to collect, store, or transmit your personal data.

2.1. Accessibility Service API

Prominent Disclosure: The core functionality of the Service relies on the Accessibility API to draw floating overlays (volume, power, and utility buttons) and to execute global actions (such as adjusting volume, locking the screen, or opening the power menu) on your behalf. We do not use the Accessibility API to observe your text input, read your screen content, or monitor your interactions with other apps.

2.2. Draw Over Other Apps

This permission is essential for rendering the floating buttons on top of other applications, ensuring they are always accessible.

2.3. Modify System Settings

The Service requests permission to modify system settings strictly to implement the "Orientation Lock" feature, allowing you to toggle auto-rotate directly from the floating menu.

2.4. Camera

If you choose to enable the "Flashlight" extra button, the Service requests Camera permission solely to toggle the device's flashlight. We do not capture, record, or store images or video.

2.5. Phone State & Calls

If you enable the "Smart Call Handling" feature, the Service requests permission to read phone state and answer/end phone calls. This allows the floating power button to dynamically change into an "Answer" or "End Call" button when a phone call is active. We do not monitor call logs, record audio, or collect phone numbers.

2.6. Notifications

On devices running Android 13 (Tiramisu) and higher, the Service requests permission to post notifications. This is used exclusively to provide a persistent notification when the floating buttons are manually hidden, allowing you to easily restore them without reopening the app.

2.7. Foreground Service (Special Use)

The app runs a persistent foreground service ("Special Use" subtype) to keep the floating buttons active and responsive in the background. This is strictly required to ensure the on-screen buttons remain visible and functional over other apps. This background service does not monitor your activity, record audio, or collect background data.

3. Data Collection

We do not actively collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII). All user preferences (such as button size, color, transparency, and order) are stored locally on your device using Android DataStore and are never transmitted to our servers.

4. Third-Party Services

The Service is distributed via Google Play, which may independently collect standard store analytics (such as crash reports and installation metrics) governed by Google's own Privacy Policy. We may integrate third-party analytics services to help us understand how the Service is used and to improve your experience. These tools collect anonymized usage data and crash reports. They do not collect personally identifiable information.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page will reflect when the latest changes were made.
